Pencil Poppers (2 oz)

My favorite surface plug that casts very well and "walks the dog" with simple rod tip action. I worked for a number of months to perfect this action, and weighting is different for each type of wood that I use. The squid pencil is outstanding during the squid runs. All of my pencil poppers are truly POPPERS, they have a cupped face and throw squirts of water as they "walk" back to the rod. Many of the newer style pencils simply have a slant cut, flat face and DO NOT POP, they sit heavily rear down and merely slap the water surface on retrieve. Blue/silver/white, yellow and white are excellent just about any time. Black has been discontinued, poppers are poor producers at night, so stick with swimmers and needles. This plug can also be made in a 3oz version on special order only. I will also paint color combinations of yellow/white.

Aqua Poppers (2 oz)

These are a frequently used and productive surface lure. Blue/Silver/White, all white, all yellow and squid are the most productive colors that I have used. Like other plugs I will paint combination colors.

I have always enjoyed fishing with wooden plugs mainly because that was all that was available when I was a youngster. Like most fishermen and women I am not opposed to using a lure made out of just about anything short of explosives. However custom-made lures are still my absolute favorite with which to catch fish. Whether it be fly, spinner or wood there is much more satisfaction in the catch when made by my own hands. I use the best components that I can find. These plugs will eventually show teeth marks and hook swing. As a fisherman I refer to these marks as MOJO. When a plug has MOJO it has been catching fish!
